St. Francis Names New President

Mike McMahan has been named the new president of St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
McMahan succeeds Mike Baumgartner, who left St. Francis in September to become president of Baptist Health Madisonville in Kentucky.
McMahan started at St. Francis on Monday. He comes to St. Francis from the HealthEast Care System, the largest health care provider in the Twin Cities’ east metro area, where he served in hospital and clinical leadership roles since 2002. His most recent position was the vice president of Acute Care Operations at St. John’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Woodwinds Health Campus for HealthEast.
Under McMahan’s leadership at HealthEast, the hospital group developed and implemented a system leadership approach to surgical services, radiology, pharmacy, security, guest services and plant operations. He also is credited with improving quality at a reduced cost and championing initiatives resulting in better patient experience scores and employee engagement.

St. Francis is jointly owned by the Essentia Health Critical Access Group, Allina Health and Park Nicollet Health Services. Its Catholic identity is sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of the St. Scholastica Monastery through Essentia Health.
