Note:

I am passionate about: animals. I appreciate that we are caretakers of the animals of this world and are responsible for their health and well being. Growing up, I had a dog, raised a baby squirrel, and had frogs, toads and snakes. I’ve had four standard poodles (usually two at a time) and three cats in the past 25 years. I like to keep the birds happy with several feeders.

Most people don’t know: I was a gymnast through my college years.

My favorite book is: All Creatures Great and Small; it's hilarious and about being a vet who is caring for animals in the early 20th century.

My favorite destination: (most lately) is Cozumel. The vacation was very, very relaxing, and I was able to hike, snorkel and scuba dive.

My hero is: my mother, who was one on the first nurse practitioners in Minnesota, is intelligent, caring and very independent. She raised three children while completing her degree and was also one of the women who led the fight for women's rights.

One of the challenges of my career that I enjoy is: learning what each individual’s needs are and how they need me to provide the best care that I can. It is a challenge to make that discovery and it can take a lot of time.

My personal health goal is: to maintain my current healthy weight, strength and general condition. I was blessed with good genes and want to continue hiking, gardening, and be able to move heavy objects well into my 80's!

The best thing I’ve done for my health is: starting to workout with an intense DVD workout nearly every day after work. After my hip surgery, I was out of shape and gaining weight; this has helped bring my weight down and has improved my endurance and strength.

I am most proud of: graduating from medical school at age 37 with a seven year old son. I must give lots of credit to my husband who was there through it all!

A personal achievement I am proud of is: climbing to the tallest pyramid in Mexico and hiking up a 1200 foot elevation desert trail after I had recovered from hip replacement surgery.

Personal Interests: gardening, hiking, pets, scuba diving and traveling
