Car Seat Safety

Research shows that 80 to 90 percent of car seats are used incorrectly. This class is designed to provide instruction and hands-on demonstration to keep your baby safe during vehicle transportation.

Topics include:

  • Selecting the proper car seat
  • Correct installation of the car seat in the vehicle (variations in seat belt systems)
  • Using the car seat correctly (placement of the baby in the seat)
  • Use of LATCH system
  • Air bag safety
  • Review of common mistakes.

This class is best taken during pregnancy so your baby can be transported safely home from the hospital after birth. However, this class may also be taken after the birth of your baby. Infants are welcome, but child care is not provided. If you have already purchased your car seat, please bring it to class.
