Michael Morris of St. Francis Regional Medical Center Named "40 Under 40" Honoree

(SHAKOPEE, Minn.) Michael Morris, director of business development at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, was named one of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's 2017 40 Under 40 honorees. Recipients include 40 leaders under the age of 40 in the Twin Cities area who have demonstrated outstanding professional accomplishments in their industries and communities. Morris, also a Shakopee resident, has served in this role at St. Francis since 2007.

"Congratulations to Michael on this well-deserved recognition. He is a dynamic thinker, has vision and energy to bring people together towards exciting initiatives, and inspires others with his creativity," said Mike McMahan, president of St. Francis Regional Medical Center. "Shakopee is a powerhouse of growth in the southwest metro, which means there are a lot of new individuals and families needing health care, and Michael has a remarkable vision for advancing our services and adding the physicians necessary to meet this need."

As the director of business development for St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Morris is responsible for hospital and clinic-based growth initiatives and oversees the hospital's marketing communications, guest services, community outreach, and employee wellness departments. He is the youngest individual to hold this position in the hospital's 79-year history. Under his direction, St. Francis has opened new clinics in Savage, Chaska and Jordan; completed a $7.5 million, 16,000 square-foot entrance expansion; and opened a new $1.5 million urgent care facility.

Morris is not only part of the next generation of business and community leaders in the Twin Cities, he inspires and educates future generations. Morris serves on Shakopee Public Schools' CAPS (Center for Advanced Professional Studies) Advisory Committee, which oversees an innovative program in which 25 high school students attend class at the hospital for two hours each school day. Morris was recently named the vice-chair of the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau and also serves as the City of Shakopee's Economic Development Advisory Committee chair.
