St. Francis Celebrates Opening of Brand New Entrance and Lobby

(Shakopee, October 12, 2016) St. Francis Regional Medical Center's new state-of-the-art front entrance is now open to guests. The $7 million, 15,500 square foot project was under construction for eleven months and is designed to provide a warm and visually pleasing first impression for guests entering the facility. The project also includes the addition of a pharmacy, health & care store, eye care department, sleep apnea retail and coffee shop. The expanded entrance features a vaulted glass façade allowing in natural healing light, LED ambient lighting, soft seating and lounging areas, a color-changing fireplace, Terrazzo flooring and a new guest welcome center. "St. Francis is a healing environment in every sense, and that includes aesthetics. Every component of this project was selected with great intention to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for our guests," said Mike McMahan, President of St. Francis. "Our guests often tell us that we are a hospital that doesn't look or feel like a hospital, and we take that as a great compliment."

The dramatic new main entrance is designed to be a prominent, visual entry point for guests and provide easy access to the hospital, clinics and new retail areas. New striking store fronts include Allina Pharmacy, Park Nicollet's Eye Care, Sleep Store and Health & Care Store as well the future home of a new coffee shop and bistro, Conexion at St. Francis. With pharmacy and health stores onsite, patients can pick up the specific items their physicians recommend, providing a seamless care experience.

"It is estimated that more than 30 percent of prescriptions never get filled if a patient leaves a hospital without them," said McMahan. "Our new onsite outpatient pharmacy will help ensure that our patients leave St. Francis with a healthier care experience." The exterior and grounds leading up to the front entrance now feature patio seating, stamped concrete, bike racks, ornamental grasses and an array of colorful plantings and trees. Patients and visitors will enjoy a new canopied drop-off area and during the winter months and a snowmelt system to provide a safe and comfortable entry to the hospital.
