Childbirth Preparation - 4 week series

 

February 21, 28, March 7, 14

This class focuses on preparation for labor, birth and newborn safety. Topics include:
• labor and birth and the options available
• relaxation and breathing techniques to help you cope with labor
• the role of your spouse, partner or labor companion
• use and choice of medications and medical procedures
• Cesarean birth
• your recovery
• care for your baby after birth
• your baby’s safety
• resources.

You will also have the opportunity to tour the Birth Center at St. Francis.

It is recommended you complete this class no later than one month before your due date. Register early in your pregnancy to secure the dates you prefer during the latter part of your pregnancy.

Please bring your Beginnings: Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond manual to class.

Bring a blanket or yoga mat and two pillows to practice breathing and relaxation exercises.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, so we can start the class on time.

Meals are not provided during this class. You can bring your own or visit the local restaurants or the hospital cafeteria during your break. You are also encouraged to bring beverages and snacks to have during the class.

Please do not attend class if you are sick or have flu-like symptoms.
