St. Francis Regional Medical Center welcomes Dan Poffenberger to Board of Directors

Dan Poffenberger, 57, is the newest member of St. Francis Regional Medical Center's board of directors. Currently, he also serves on the Board of Trustees at Gustavus Adolphus College.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (October 9, 2017) — St. Francis Regional Medical Center welcomes Dan Poffenberger—newly elected member to the board of directors.

"We are pleased that Dan is joining us on the board," says Mike McMahan, president of St. Francis Regional Medical Center and board member. "His extensive experience as a pastor will certainly help add to and cultivate our mission."

Poffenberger, 57, is the senior pastor at Shepherd of the Lake in Prior Lake, Minn. The large congregation is active with nearly 4,000 members and a very dynamic ministry to children and youth. It's developed an innovative campus, enjoying partnerships with Presbyterian Homes and the YMCA. He's previously served congregations in Walnut Grove, Minn.; Anoka, Minn.; Stillwater, Minn.; and Geneva Ill.

McMahan acknowledges that Poffenberger's board experience is also valuable. He adds, "Dan has served—and continues to serve—on the Board of Trustees at Gustavus Adolphus College, for seven years.

Poffenberger is the current Board Chair and has served in various other capacities over his tenure, including chair of the Governance Group and a member of the Presidential Search Committee, Presidential Review Committee and the Executive Committee.

Poffenberger holds a bachelor of arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and a masters of divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at Portland Seminary, graduating next spring with a doctor of ministry.

In his free time, Poffenberger enjoys golfing and traveling, especially Europe. He and wife, Gretchen, also enjoy spending time with their boys and lead an active lifestyle.
