St. Francis Sponsors Shakopee Soccer Association

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (June 7, 2017) — Nearly 100 kids received financial aid—totaling more than $9,500—to play soccer with the Shakopee Soccer Association.

"It was an honor to be able to help out where we can," says Mike McMahan, president of St. Francis Regional Medical Center. "We believe in supporting community initiatives and organizations that encourage healthy activities like soccer. This sponsorship also targets a key area of need in the community, which aims to increase physical activity and healthy activities."

Of the 97 kids:

  • more than $3,000 was awarded for 51 to play recreational soccer
  • more than $6,500 was awarded for 46 received to play travel soccer.

"Not every family has the means to be able to pay the annual fee,"says McMahan. "We know they're grateful, and it's our pleasure to be able to offer that to them."

The awarded financial aid went toward those who needed assistance to participate in Shakopee Soccer Association’s 2015-2016 soccer season.
